Interest Is Islam - Riba

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Dealing with Riba is one of the Major Sins

Dealing with riba (interest) has spread widely among many Muslims today, many Muslims do not see any problem with it, either because of lack of knowledge or absent-mindedness. Despite the fact that all Muslim scholars agree that dealing with riba (usury or interest) is a major sin because the prophet (S.A.W.) mentioned explicitly in a hadith reported by Imam Bukhari and Muslim, "Avoid the seven destructive sins", then he mentioned one of them as, "and dealing with riba (usury or interest)"

What is riba? riba linguistically means in Arabic an increase. And in Islamic terminology means, an increase agreed upon over the loan with consideration for the time, whether this increase is small or large because Allah (S.W.T.) says in surat Al-Baqarah, (Verse 279), what can be translated as, "But if you repent (from dealing with riba), you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums)."

Many verses and many authentic Ahadith have declared that dealing with riba is very prohibited. Some of these verses and Ahadith will be mentioned in this khutbah.

Dealing with riba is forbidden not only in the Islamic (sharia’h) laws, but also in the previous divine legislation. Allah (S.W.T.) says about the Jews in surat An-Nisa’, (Verses 160 & 161), what can be translated as, "For the wrong -doing of the Jews, We made unlawful to them certain good foods which had been lawful to them, and for their hindering many from Allah’s Way. And their taking of riba (usury/interest) though they were forbidden from taking it and their devouring of men’s substance wrongfully." From the transgression, the oppression, and the corruption of the Jews was hindering many from Allah’s Way and dealing with riba (usury/interest) while it is forbidden. Imam Ibn Katheer says Allah forbade them, the Jews, from dealing with riba, but they dealt with it and took it and tried to deceive Allah with many forms of interest.

The holy Qur'an has talked about riba in many places in chronological order:

In the period of Makkah, Allah (S.W.T.) says in surat Ar-Roum, (Verse 39), what can be translated as, "And that which you give in riba (to others), in order that it may increase (your wealth by expecting to get a better one in return) from other people’s property, has no increase with Allah."

Then, in the period of Al-madinah, interest was explicitly prohibited in the saying of Allah (S.W.T.), in surat Ale-Emran, (Verse 30), what can be translated as, "O you who believe! Do not take riba doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful."

Then, another revelation came down in the saying of Allah (S.W.T.) in surat Al-Baqarah, (Verse 275& 276), what can be translated as, "Those who deal with riba will not stand (on the day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only like riba," whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden riba. So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops dealing with riba shall not be punished for the past: his case if for Allah (to judge); but whoever returns to dealing with riba, such are the dweller of the Fire-they will abide therein. Allah destroys riba and will give increase for Sadaqat (deeds of charity, alms, etc.) and Allah does not like the disbelievers, sinners."

Then, the last thing that was revealed about the prohibition of interest was the saying of Allah (S.W.T.) in surat Al-Baqarah, (Verses 278 & 279), what can be translated as, "O you who believe! Fear Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from riba (from now onward), if you are truly believers. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly, and you shall not be dealt with unjustly." This last verse is an emphatic argument that would silence those who say, "interest is not forbidden unless it is a high percentage." But it is clear that Allah did not allow for the person to receive except the exact capital, no more and no less."

Imam Ibn Katheer says about these two verses, "The believers said: We repent to Allah (S.W.T.) and leave what remained from riba, so they left it all, and this is a severe warning and an assertive punishment for those who keep dealing with riba after they are warned. Ibn Abbas (R.A.A.) said about the saying of Allah "then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger…" In the day of Judgment will be said for the one who dealt with riba: prepare yourself and take your weapon to war, and the riba eater is resurrected on the day of judgment as insane to be strangled.

Imam Bukhari reported that the prophet (S.A.W.) had a long night dream part of that the prophet said, "....then we came to a red river like blood, I saw a man swimming in it and another on the river bank had gathered many stones. The swimmer started swimming toward the man on the riverbank and when he got to him, he opened his mouth to feed him the stones. Then the prophet (S.A.W.) said, that is the riba eater."

Imam Muslim reported that the prophet (S.A.W.) said: "The messenger of Allah cursed the eater of riba, (usury/interest) and the one who feeds it." Imam At-Tirmithi and other scholars of hadith added to this hadith from another narration: "and its witness and its writer."

Imam Ahmad reported in an authentic hadith that the prophet (S.A.W.) said, "Dirham (the smallest coin like a penny)of interest eaten by a man with knowledge is more severe than thirty-six acts of fornication or adultery."

After we heard all of these clear verses and many authentic ahadith that make riba (interest/usury) very prohibited, we should repent to Allah and stop dealing with riba, small or large and not to deceive ourselves by changing the name of the forbidden riba to more appealing names like interest. Its large increase is forbidden, as well as its small. We should not try to come up with excuses to deal with interest, because nothing hides from Allah (S.W.T.).

Every Sin is a sign of Stupidity

Every Sin is a sign of Stupidity

Hazrat Hakeemul Ummat Thanwi (رحمۃ اللہ علیہ) said:

“Every sin is a sign of stupidity and foolishness.“
Anyone who commits sin, then this is a sign that there is some deficiency in his intellect. He is disobeying such a Being in whose hands is our life and death, our health and sickness, peace and comfort, good and evil end. If his intellect was sound he would never commit sin. As for the one who casts evil glances, Hazrat says that he is extremely foolish. By casting glances he attains nothing other than restlessness in his heart. By looking at a beauty, one never attains him/her, rather one gets uneasiness and the heart becomes restless when one remembers him/her.

Sex before Marriage

Sex before Marriage
Are Muslims allowed to partake in any sexual activity before they get married?

Brother, let me ask you a question. How would you feel if someone indulges in sexual relationship with your sister or daughter claiming that they’re planning to get married, yet after he fulfills his desires, he “dumps” her?

I don’t think you would like such a thing. How would you like it for somebody else’s daughter or sister?

You certainly don’t want to incur the wrath of Allah when committing this grave act called Zina.

Zina encompasses all the characteristics of evil: lack of religious commitment, loss of piety, loss of chivalry, lack of protective jealousy (gheerah). You will not find any adulterer who is pious, or keeps his promises, or speaks truthfully, or is a good friend, or has complete protective jealousy towards his family.

What is Al Mushrik (A Polytheist) ?

Al-Mushrikun means Polytheists, pagan, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah.
Who Associate Partners With Allah(God) In Worship Are Mushrikun (Polytheists)

The Christian Believe in Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Ghost), which implies that Jesus has attributes of God, as polytheism. (so-called neo-tawhid) see certain traditional Muslim practices as polytheistic innovation from the righteous path.

besides Allah, any other ilah (god), of whom he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kafirun (the disbelievers in Allah and in the Oneness of Allah, polytheists, pagans, idolaters, etc.) will not be successful.

Surely, they have disbelieved who say: “Allah is the Masih Isa , son of Maryam .” But the Masih Isa said: “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.” Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) there are no helpers. 5 Al-Maeda (72)

Surely, disbelievers are those who said: “Allâh is the third of the three (in a Trinity).” But there is no llah (god) (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One Ilâh (God -Allah). And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall on the disbelievers among them 5 Al-Maeda (73)

This is a Shirk in Islam, shirk is the sin of idolatry or polytheism, or worship of anyone or anything other than the singular God, or the establishment of “partners” placed beside God. It is the vice that is opposed to the virtue of Tawhid (monotheism).

Within Islam,This shirk is an unforgivable crime. God may forgive any sin except for committing shirk Stetting partners with One God .

Saying Ya Muhammad Madad ( Oh Muhammad Help me) Ya Ali Madad (Oh Ali Help me)

worshiping graves Praying from a person who is dead .

“Ya Allah Madad” is correct because you are asking direct to God Almighty for help.

[Verily your Lord is Allah who hath created the heavens and the earth in six days, then established Himself on the Throne disposing the affair; no in tercessor is there, except after His leave. That is Allah, your Lord; so worship Him. Would ye then not be admonished! (3)]10 Surah Yunus

[And they worship, beside Allah, that which harmeth them not, nor profiteth them, and they say: these are our intercessors with God: Say thou: apprise ye Allah of that which He knoweth not in the heavens nor in the earth? Hallowed be He and Exalted far above that which ye associate! (18)10 Surah Yunus]

And the Jews say: ‘Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allâh, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allâh. That is their saying with their mouths, resembling the saying of the those who disbelieved aforetime. Allâh’s Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth! 9 Al-Tawba Verse (30)

Neither those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) nor Al-Mushrikun (the idolaters, polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, pagans, etc.) like that there should be sent down unto you any good from your Lord. But Allâh chooses for His Mercy whom He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.chapter 2 Al-Baqara Verse (105)

Verily, you will find the strongest among men in enmity to the believers (Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikun and you will find the nearest in love to the believers (Muslims) those who say: “We are Christians.” That is because amongst them are priests and monks, and they are not proud. 5 Al-Maeda verse (82)

It is not for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah), to maintain the Mosques of Allah ( to pray and worship Allah therein, to look after their cleanliness and their building), while they witness against their ownselves of disbelief. The works of such are in vain and in Fire shall they abide.

9 – Al-Tawba verse(17)

The hypocritical men and the hypocritical women are all of a piece they command that which is disreputable and restrain from that which is reputable, and they tighten their hands. They neglected Allah, so He had neglected them. Verily the hypocrites! they are the ungodly ones. (67)

Coming to hindus they are used to believing in incarnations of god like christians.
in hinduism people believe in incarnations of shiva, brahma and vishnu etc ie rama, sita, krishna, radha etc are believed to be gods and godesses.

Punishment for drinking wine (prohibited)

Punishment for drinking wine (prohibited)

no punishment for drinking has been mentioned in Quran, but it has been prohibited….
They ask thee of wine, and gambling. Say thou: in both is a great sin, and some benefits for men, but the sin of them is for greater than their benefit. And they ask thee, how much they hould expend. Say thou: the redundant portion. In this wise Allah expoundeth unto you His commandments that haply ye may ponder.2 Al-Baqara (219)
O Ye who believe! approach not prayer while ye are intoxicated until ye know that which ye say, nor yet while ye are polluted, save when ye be way faring, until ye have washed your selves. And if ye be ailing or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the privy have touched women, or ye and ye find not water, then betake your selves to clean earth and wipe your faces and your hands therewith; verily Allah is ever Pardoning, Forgiving.
4 An-Nisa(43)
O ye who believe! wine and gambling and stone altars and divining arrows are only an abomination, a handiwork of Satan, shun it wherefore, that haply ye may fare well. (90)
Satan only seeketh to breed animosity and spites among you by means of wine and gambling and would keep you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer; will ye not then desist? (91)
Obey Allah and obey the apostle, and beware; but if ye turn away, then know that upon Our apostle resteth only the plain preaching. (92) 5 Al-Maeda
